Betty Yeoh worked as a Human Resources Manager and after retirement, acquired her Counselling degree and Master of Counselling. She continued to work as a School Counsellor in Tuanku Ja’afar until her formal retirement. In semi-retirement, she continues to provide counselling and conducts training in the area of gender-based violence.
Betty’s vast experiences of her formal work, as well as her involvement with a non-governmental organization (AWAM) for the last 40 years, especially in the area of counselling survivor of violence enables her to ably support her clients in individual, family, and academic challenges. She journeys with her intergenerational clients, using therapies that include, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Reality Therapy as well as Family Therapy until they find their own pathway to move forward.
Betty had worked on the Domestic Violence Act and the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act. This additional knowledge together with her counselling skills has seen her supporting her clients to move forward in the faces of these challenges at home and at work.
